The Eureka Lions Cheer Team consists of three seniors Cheer Captain Liberty Adams, Emma Maxeiner, Adriana Granados; two juniors Lexie White and Jayla Lindgren; four sophomores Madelaine Morris, Kamealani Seward, Mea Sparks, and Riley Redfield; and two freshmen Kierra Reynolds and Tyrone Cook. The team has two cheer coaches: Jennifer Hall (Head Coach) and Danielle Redfield (Assistant Coach).
Jennifer Hall has been the Eureka Lions Cheer Team Head Coach for several years, and she recently had a stroke and was hospitalized; she currently is at home and is currently active in physical therapy.
Danielle Redfield had just joined the Eureka Cheer Team this year and stepped up to be head coach while Jennifer is recovering.
While Danielle is in charge of things, practices have been going well. She is doing a very good job with the Lady Lions even though she walked into this empty handed. The ladies help each other, and everyone is working together to get through together.
Although some cheerleaders have never done cheerleading without Jennifer, they are trying their hardest to manage without her. Liberty and Emma have been cheerleaders for four years. This year will be their last. These two feel a bit odd without Jennifer, but continue to challenge the sport of cheerleading.
The Eureka Lady Lion Cheer Team is currently preparing for Homecoming and is working very hard. Pep Club is also a go and the ladies are getting ready to support our Lions.
Several ladies shared some ideas about the experience of cheerleading.
Liberty Adams said, “Cheer, for me, has been my favorite part of each day. The team has always felt like a family for me, ever since I started Freshman year. I have discovered how rewarding it is to grow as a Flyer and to compete. Coach Jen helped me a lot to come out of my shell and be a louder and more confident cheerleader, and this year Coach Danielle has helped me and the team grow as dancers. Cheer has helped me a lot to be more confident and the friendships I've found within the team are worth every second I devote to cheer.”
Madelaine Morris said, “I really like cheer, and the team we have this year. I feel like it is bigger and this helps us with more formations for dances and also stunting when we get into it. Overall I’m glad I joined cheer because it’s helped me in getting more high school experiences!”
Mea Sparks said, “I think cheer is a great way to get to know others, not just in the school, but also in the community. It is also a great way of making new friends with people, people that you maybe even thought you wouldn't have become friends with. It is my first year doing cheer, but so far I think it has been amazing, and I am so excited for the rest of the year!”
Riley Redfield said, “I'm glad I joined cheer this year even though I joined late. I feel like I have learned alot and made a lot of good friends and I love the team we have, and the team makes cheer even more enjoyable.”
The Cheer Team is having a good time being on the team and these ladies enjoy working together to improve.
