Caden Vaughn is a senior at Lincoln County High School competing on the basketball and golf team this year. Caden and his family of two sisters (freshman and junior), brother (6th grade) and mom moved here from Williston, North Dakota in August. After high school Caden plans to go to trade school to receive a degree in the electrical field.
Caden was born in Spokane, Washington and moved to Williston when he was five years old. He lived in Williston until this year. Caden said, “It was different moving to Eureka, the town is a lot smaller and has a much smaller population.” Williston has a population of 27,000 people compared to Eureka with only 1,400 people. He also said, “I’m doing a lot better now that I have met people and playing basketball. When I first got here it was pretty boring and I didn't do much.”
Caden is on the basketball team right now playing with six other seniors. He said, “I think the basketball team is going to be really good this year and I’m excited to play with my friends.” Caden’s teammates are very happy to have him on the team this year and believe he will be an important piece to their team.
Coach Evins said, “ Caden brings much needed shooting and passing to our team, he also knows where to be on the floor at all times.” In the spring he will play golf but isn’t sure what to expect of the team yet because he hasn’t met the coach or players yet.
Caden has a very athletic family with both his sisters Annie and Sophie starting on the varsity volleyball team this fall and his little brother Colton is already showing promise in football and basketball.
His sister Annie said, “Caden is a funny guy and always makes everyone around him feel better.” They have a very close knit family and all enjoy hanging out and playing games with each other. Caden’s grandparents have lived in Eureka for a while and his family has wanted to move out here for a long time. They didn’t have any reason to move this year, but made the decision to.
